  1. $\sqrt{5}$

    Solution :

    $\sqrt{4}=2$ and $\sqrt{6.25}=2.5$
    Option (a), (c) and (d): $\sqrt{11},\sqrt{22.5}$ and $\sqrt{12.5},$ all are greater than $\sqrt{6.25}$
    ⇒ Out of interval (2, 2.5)
    Option (b): $\sqrt{4}<\sqrt{5}<\sqrt{6.25}\Rightarrow$ lies in the interval (2, 2.5)
    Hence, option (b) is correct.
