Ayurveda contains knowledge about precautions and treatment of different diseases. "Prevention is better than cure" is the policy of Ayurveda. In order to remain healthy, certain indicators like food habits, amount of meals, place, time etc. are described in Ayurveda.
   Ayurveda contains instructions like what to eat, when to eat and how many times should a person eat. According to Ayurveda, buttermilk should be drunk at the end of the day and water in the morning. Buttermilk is like nectar and it is said that it is not easily available even to gods. Milk is wholesome food and by drinking it at night, we get stamina. Drinking water in the morning removes constipation. Similarly, meal taken one time maintain health, meals taken two times enrich power,meals taken three times cause, diseases and meals taken four times causes death. Thus, a person taking little meal or beneficial meal does not require Vaidya. Moreover, meals should be taken in appropriate quantity.
   Thus, there are various categories of meal, but a person should eat simple, less spicy and nutritive meal which is called healthy food.
