Coffee cultivation is done on a large scale in South India. Explain.

Due to the following favourable conditions, coffee cultivation is practiced in S India.
(i) Altitude-Coffee is grown at an altitude of 800 to 1500 metres. The Western Ghats, are having that altitude Their slopes are protected from direct rain, direct sun rays and strong winds.
(ii) Climate-South India has a tropical climate that is well-suited to coffee cultivation, with moderate temperatures, abundant rainfall, and high humidity.
(iii) Soil-Light, loamy, well-drained soil added with lot of humus is found in South India Volcano soil, red and laterite soil are ideal. The soil must be properly manured.
