The Union Territory of Ladakh is located in the northern part India and lies to the east of Jammu Kashmir and Kashmir. Ladakh is a cold desert of India.
Ladakh is also called Kha-pa-chan which means 'A Glacial Land'. The Karakoram Mountain Range lies to the north of Ladakh white Zaskar Mountain Range is situated to its south. Sindhu (Indus) is the main river of this region.
The air in Ladakh is very thin (sparce) due to its altitude.
The climate here is very cold and dry. The daytime temperature here remains just above $0^\circ C$ while the night time temperature falls even below-$30 ^\circ C.$
There is less vegetation in Ladakh due to dry atmosphere of Ladakh desert. Only short grass grows here.
