1. The phenomenon in which the dominant trait is phenotypically expressed by masking the recessive trait.	1. The phenomenon in which a trait is masked in heterozygous condition by the dominant trait but are able to express in homozygous state, is called recessive trait.
2. When a homozygous tall parent is crossed with homozygous dwarf plant, F 1 individuals in heterozygous state are tall plant and therefore tallness is dominant trait.	2. When a homozygous tall plant is crossed with homozygous dwarf, the F_{1} individuals are heterozygous dominant tall which on selfing produces both tall and dwarf in F_{2} generation. Therefore, dwarf is recessive trait.
