Under the mailing questionnaire method, the required data are collected by mail. The questionnaire is sent to each respondent by mail with a request to complete and return it by a given date. Success of this method depends upon the way in which the questionnaire is drafted.
Merits:

1. This method is less expensive.
2. This method allows the researcher to have access to people in remote areas too.

Demerits:

1. The data received by this method are not reliable.
2. The conclusions based on investigation have only limited accuracy.
