Points of Difference Reporting Communication
$1.$ Meaning The process of sending reports of activities to top level is called reporting. The process of exchanging information with various parties is called communication.
$2.$ Objective It’s objective is to co-ordinate various activities by various types of reports. Its objective is to create understanding in other person and lead the activities on a determined path thereby it also motivates the employees and control the activities.
$3.$ Route As reports are sent from bottom level to top level management, it is a one way process. As communication includes exchange of information, it is two way process.
$4.$ Nature Reporting can be in formal nature only. Communication may be formal or informal in nature.
$5.$ Medium Reporting can be written or oral. Communication can be made through written, oral, symbolic and electronic medium.
$6.$ Concept As reporting is one way process it is a narrow concept. Communication is two way process. It includes reporting also, thus it is broad concept.
