  • Structure of Taluka Panchayat:

1. Elected Members:

2. Co-members and invited members:
  • In addition to the elected members, the taluka panchayat has co-members and invited members.
  • Taluka Panchayat co-members and invited members attend panchayat meetings, discussions, give necessary advice but they do not have the right to vote.
3. Taluka Panchayat Committees:
  • The taluka panchayat forms an executive committee and a social justice committee from among its members to carry out development works in the villages of the taluka.
  • It also forms other committees as required.
(1) Executive Committee:
  • Out of the members of the taluka panchayat, an executive committee of 9 members is formed.
  • One of these members is elected as the Chairman of the Executive Committee.
  • The term of the Executive Committee is two years.
(2) Social Justice Committee:
  • It is mandatory to form a social justice committee in the taluka panchayat.
  • This committee has a maximum of five members and is determined by the members of the taluka panchayat.
4. Taluka Panchayat President:
  • The elected members of the taluka panchayat elect the president and vice-president.
  • The President of the Taluka Panchayat is a democratic leader representing the rural people of the taluka.
5. Taluka Development Officer:
  • Taluka Development Officer (Taluka Development Officer: TDO) is an officer appointed by the government to carry out the administrative work of the Taluka Panchayat.
  • He guides the President of the Taluka Panchayat to perform governmental and administrative functions.
