Sovereignty is an attribute/feature of the state Internal sovereignty implies that the state is superior than any individual; whereas external sovereignty implies that the state is independent and has freedom to frame its foreign policy to protect the national interests. In this sense India became a sovereign state on attaining independence on 15th August, 1947.
