• There are three types depending on the structure of the organization.

(1) Simple structure (2) Bureaucratic structure (2) Quadrangular structure
(1) Simple structure:

• A simple structure is called a flat structure. Which is largely managed and operated by a single person. And makes all important decisions concerning the organization.
• It is managed by a single family or a firm.
• Here the rank order of the employee is almost negligible.
• Here the employee has to submit the report directly to the employer.
• E.g. General store, restaurant, book stall etc.

(2) Bureaucratic structure:

• In this type of organization, strict adherence to the law is the norm.
• Here we see the specialization in the formal form of the rules and the structure of the work.
• What should the employee do here? To whom the work is assigned, etc. are fixed.
• There is responsibility and right everywhere. There is a chain of command.
• Here the person cannot make decisions outside of the structure himself.
• The great weakness of this type of organization is that if there is no provision in the rules for an incident to take place here, it cannot be rectified by taking an immediate decision.
• E.g. These include government agencies and large-scale industries, such as the police, the courts, the military, the collector's office, and so on.

(3) Quadratic structure:

• The work in this type of organization is complex and varied.
• It has many sections and many activities.
• Here the employee often plays a dual role.
• He works as an administrator with his own field.
• E.g. College or university, hospital, advertising agencies etc.
• There are many departments like BA, B.Com, B.Sc, B.C.A in the college.
• In it, a professor teaches his subject.
• As well as acting as the HOD of any department.
