Explain the use of transgenic animals in producing biological products.

Transgenic organisms have been developed for production of many useful biological substances. To achieve this, a portion of DNA or genes coding for the desired product are isolated and introduced in the host or transgenic organisms. These biological products are used for treatment of many disease in humans. For example, Human protein C-1-antitrypsin is produced from transgenics and used to treat emphysema.
