Give information about the water resources of India.

There are mainly three types of water resources In IndIa: $1.$ Rain water, $2.$ Surface water and $3.$ Ground water.
$1.$ Rain water: Rain is the main source of the water on the earth. River, lakes, streams and wells are minor sources. All these sources are dependent on rain water.
$2.$ Surface water: It Is found in rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, sea and reservoirs. Here the rivers are the main source.
$3.$ Ground water : The water which absorbed by the surface and is collected in the sub-strata is called ground water. The ground water is unlimited. It is collected in about $42\%$ of the area In the plains of North India. The volume of ground water is less there because of the peninsular plateau and mountains. It is most used for irrigation.
