The ethnic composition of a small country, Belgium is very complex. Ethnic is a social division based on shared culture. People belonging to the same ethnic group believe in their common descent because of similarities of physical type or of culture.
i. Of the country's total population, 59% live in the Flemish region and speak the Dutch language.
ii. Another 40% of people live in the Wallonia and speak French.
iii. Remaining 1% of the Belgians speak German.
iv. 80% of people speak French while 20% are Dutch-German speaking in the capital city Brussels.
