If (2, โˆ’5) is the solution of the equation 2๐‘ฅ โˆ’ ๐‘˜ ๐‘ฆ = 14 then find k =?

Answer

$(2,-5)$ is the solution of $2 x-k y=14$.

Substituting $x=2, y=-5$ in $2 x-k y=14$, we get

$2(2)-k(-5)=14$

$\therefore 4+5 k=14$

$\therefore 5 k=14-4=10$

$\therefore k=\frac{10}{5}=2$
