Question
Justify the title ‘the road not taken’.

Answer

  • Robert Frost has in his poem 'The Road not taken' very well shown us that human beings have to make a choice in crucial moments of their lives.
  • The path or road stands for a direction in life or a career.
  • The poet said that he came across two paths and he knew that he had to decide to take one, as he was one traveller.
  • After giving it a serious thought the poet chose the second road which was grassy and wanted wear.
  • Midway he found that each road led to the other and he thought that he would keep the first for another time.
  • However, he doubted if that chance would ever come.
  • He knew that he would continue with the road less travelled only.
  • As the years passed, he felt that success didn't come easily his way but it did come because of the choice he had made.
  • His decision to take the second path was the right one and it had made a lot of difference to his life.
