Question
Mention two differences between two different types of solar cookers.
✓
Answer
Difference between box type solar cooker and spherical reflector:
In solar cookers fitted with spherical reflectors, the sunlight falling on the surface of the reflector gets concentrated at its focus and thus higher temperatures are achieved, compared to box type solar cookers.
In solar cookers fitted with spherical reflector, solar heat is directly used for heating by placing a suitable utensil at the focus while, in box type solar cookers, heat is absorbed in the box which is then utilised to heat the material contained in it. Thus, spherical reflector type solar cooker can be used for baking chappaties or for frying purposes whereas solar cooker can be used for preparation of dal or vegetables
