(i) It is glandular layer in which blastocyst becomes embedded.
(ii) Cyclic changes take place in this layer of uterus during menstrual cycle.
(iii) Bleeding/Menstruation begins due to bursting of blood capillaries of this layer, therefore, this layer is helpful to maintain menstrual cycle.
