Question
Name the two forms that merger can take place.

Answer

Merger commonly takes the two forms. In the first form, two entities combine together and form a new entity, extinguishing both the existing entities. This form is termed as 'amalgamation'. In the second form, i.e. 'absorption', one entity gets absorbed into another but the latter does not lose its entity.
