Sheela's Diary
Tree Plantation Programme in School
25th June 20
Dear Diary
It was heartening to find out that our school doesn't just believe in teaching students from books about topics that touch us in our daily lives. We learn about the campaign 'Grow more trees' but our school has really taught us to practically do so. Each class was given a sapling to plant and we took an oath to nurture it till it grew up. We had a quiz competition to identify the different types of trees and their leaves.
Students composed poems and songs about trees. It was a beautiful moment as we realised we were giving life to the ground. I hope that other schools also follow the same pattern. I can imagine these saplings growing into huge shady trees which will provide us with tons of oxygen that we desperately need. The trees will also help to absorb the noise that we create in the school. They will stop soil erosion and increase the ground water in our area.
I can never forget these lines:-
Trees are truly great
They stand in the sun and give us shade
They eat just manure but give us sweet fruit.
