RNA was the first genetic material. Now there is ample evidence that the essential processes of life (such as metabolism, transfer, binding, etc.) have evolved from RNA. RNA is a catalyst along with the genetic material (there are some important biochemical reactions in biological systems which are catalyzed by RNA catalyst. Protein enzymes have no contribution in it) RNA is active as a catalyst but is temporary. Due to this, DNA was developed by chemical transformation of RNA due to which it is more stable. Due to the doublestranded and complementary strands of DNA and these are resistant to changes occurring in themselves due to the development of repair processes.
