Rudra Mahalaya is located in Siddhapur on the banks of river Saraswati in Patan district of North Gujarat.
  • Today it is in a state of broken, but at once time, it was the magnificent, wide and incomparable architecture of Gujarat.
  • Rudra Mahalaya was built by Solanki King Jai Sinh of Patan.
  • (Actually, Solanki King Mulraj-I started to build Rudra Mahalaya and Siddharaj Jai Sinh built and completed it.) Being a shaivite, Siddharajassociated the name of Mahalaya with Rudra.
  • According to some historians, the Rudra Mahalaya should have sever storeyed palace with Jharokhas; although, at present only With Jhar one storey exists. The pillars, Jharokhas, the beautifully sculpted toranas, etc. of Rudra Mahalaya give an overview of its rich architecture.
