Solve the inequality 3x – 7 > 5x – 1 for real x.

Answer

Here 3x - 7 > 5x - 1
$ \Rightarrow 3x - 5x > - 1 + 7$
$ \Rightarrow - 2x > 6$
Dividing both sides by -2, we have
$\frac{{ - 2x}}{{ - 2}} < \frac{6}{{ - 2}} \Rightarrow x < - 3$
Thus the solution set is $( - \infty , - 3)$.
