If this problem is not brought under control, society and the nation will suffer the consequences.
The Marwah Committee has suggested remedial measures to address the problem of drug addiction, which are as follows:
Preparation of anti-alcohol and drug abuse educational plans linked to national development plans.
To educate students, youth, workers, migrants, tribals etc.
On the problem of drug addiction.
To set up drug de-addiction centers for drug addicts and to form a committee on the problem of alcohol and drug addiction.
To continuously evaluate the trends related to drug and alcohol consumption in different groups of the population as well as the problem solving measures.
In addition, the Bureau of Narcotics Control of the Government of India has prepared some suggestions to address this problem.
The guidelines include NGO services, rehabilitation for addicts, public awareness and public health awareness, reducing the demand for alcohol and drugs among the youth and measures to make the youth aware of this contamination.
