There are four factors affecting formation of attitude : (1) Family (2) Socialization (3) Direct personal experience (4) Effects of mass-media.
Socialization : Socialization means the process of disseminating norms, customs, values, habits and ideologies. Socialization is a life long process: The social structure of every society is different, so the process of socialization is also different. The socialization of different individuals belonging to one society is also different. Quick changes occur in the process of socialization due to internal actions among societies. Apart from family, the other factors that affect socialization are - school, religion, culture, literature etc. A child brought up in a religious environment developes positive attitude towards religion and religious customs. Language, geographical region and food habits are also parts of socialization. For example Gujarati people prefer to eat their staple food, Punjabis prefer dairy products like butter, cheese etc. while in south, people consume coconut and rice more. So eating habits also develope attitude towards particular food. Other qualities like respecting elders, welcoming guests and dressing sense also develope in the process of socialization.
