The General Assembly is the representative organ of the United Nations: → Every member state can send five representatives on General Assembly. However, every member state has one vote in the proceedings (working) of the General Assembly. The number of members at present is 193 (in 2016). → It admits any state to the UN on the recommendation of the Security Council and by two-thirds majority. → It discusses and passes the budget of the UN presented by the Secretary-General. → It discusses and suggests the course of action on any international issue. → It resolves issues related to human-rights. disarmament and issues related to economic development of the world. → It elects the non-permanent members of the Security Council and members of the Economic and Social Council. It elects the Judges of the International Court of Justice and the Secretary-General on the recommendation of the Security Council. → Every year it elects its President and the Vice-President. → The procedural matters are decided by simple majority and the substantial (Important) matters by two-thirds majority.
