The Indian TV channels have started aping a lot Of Western Reality shows. Recently we see a Spurt in reality programmes based on song, dance, comedy and acting. Programmer like ‘Indian Idol’, “Sa Re Ga Ma’, ‘Big Boss’ have done well nationally and regionally with good TRP ratings.
The participants are chosen from various cities and then there are elimination rounds and finally the winner is chosen by public opinion through SMS. These programmes provide a platform of recognition to new and upcoming artists who don’t have God fathers to help them.
However, it is believed that the results are rigged. The trend for such shows has caught on and the frenzy is going to take time to die down.
