Regular reflection of light: When a parallel beam of light is incident on a shining plane and smooth surface, the beam remains parallel after reflection in a specific direction. Such reflection of light is called regular reflection. (see figure 9.5)
Example: The reflection of light by a plane mirror.
Irregular reflection of light: When a parallel beam of light is incident on a rough and irregular surface, the parallel beam light does not remain parallel but sead over a wide region after reflection. Such a reflection of light is known as irregular reflection. (see figure 9.6)

Example: Reflection of light from a book, a chair, a table, etc.
