Alluvial soil is mainly of two types - Khadar and Bhangar.
(i) Khadar is the new alluvium and occupies the Northern plains of India near the rivers.
(ii) Bhangar is the old alluvium, deposited away from the river up to the height of 30 m.
(iii) Coastal alluvial soil is found in narrow strips of the eastern and the western coastal region of India.
(iv) Deltaic alluvial soil is found at the mouth of rivers Ganga, Kaveri, Mahanadi, Godavari and Krishna.
