Question
What do you understand by binomial system? Please clarify by example.

Answer

Species Nomenclature (Naming of Species- Binomial Nomenclature): Scientists tried to name the species of organisms from the beginning but the one who presented the most valid opinion was Linnacus. For the first time, Carolus Linnaeus presented the Binomial System of Nomenclature in 1958 for scientific naming of organisms. Each name has two components - the Generic name and the specific epithet. There can be many species of one genus.
According to the binomial system, the names of housefly, lion and man are as follows:
Common NameScientific NameFirst Name (Genus)Second Name (Species)
HouseflyMusca domesticaMuscadomestica
LionPanthera leoPantheraleo
ManHomo sapiensHomosapiens

Biology teacher was teaching cell cycle in the class. She taught that cell is the basis from which life exists. Also explained well about cell cycle. Robin who was a bright student was facing difficulties in understanding the topic he reached home and asked her sister who is a student of biology in a college about details of cell cycle and cell theory. She explained him that according to cell theory, cells arise from pre-existing cells and the process involved is cell division. Sexually reproducing organisms start their life from a single cell, called zygote, and cell divisions do not stop with the formation of a mature organism, but continue throughout the life.
