Question
What is binomial nomenclature? Give its advantaees.

Answer

Binomial nomenclature was proposed by Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778). It is a simplified system of naming organisms. Under Binomial system of nomenclature, each organism has scientific name consisting of two parts. First part is genus and second part is the species.
For example: The scientific name of mango is Mangifera indica.
Advantages:
  • Scientific names are standardised and accepted universally.
  • Scientific names are not changed according to country or language.
