Question
What is biodiversity? Write any four steps to conserve biodiversity.

Answer

Definition of Biodiversity: Biodiversity is the richness of living organisms in nature due to the presence of varieties of organisms, ecosystems, and genetic variations within a species. It occurs at three levels:
1. Genetic Diversity: Variations among organisms of the same species.
2. Species Diversity: Innumerable species of organisms occur in nature.
3. Ecosystem Diversity: Many ecosystems are present in a specific region.
Four Steps to Conserve Biodiversity :
Protecting Rare Species:
Identifying and providing special protection to organisms that are endangered or on the verge of extinction.
Establishing National Parks and Sanctuaries: Creating protected geographical areas where wild animals and plants can live safely in their natural habitats without human interference.
Conservation of Sacred Groves: Protecting forest patches that are traditionally conserved in the name of God or local deities, which act as natural gene banks.
Implementing Environmental Laws: Strictly following and enforcing rules like the Wildlife Protection Act and Forest Conservation Act to prevent illegal poaching and deforestation.
