MAA Annapurna Yojna:
  • Under this programme the government of Gujarat, provides $35\ kg$ food grains per family per month free of cost to antyodaya families residing in either rural or urban areas.
  • Moreover, people belonging to poor class and middle class are given $5\ kg$ at concessional rate through fair price shops. The prices of food grains sold to these classes are like wheat at $RS\ 2$ per kg,rice ar $RS\ 3$ per kg, etc,
  • $3.62$ crore people of Gujarat get benefit of this scheme and the benefits of food security. This helps such people to save a large amount of money on food.
  • In a way, government aims to bring smile on faces of poor people by saving their money on food and enabling them to spend the saved amount elsewhere and hence improve standard of living.
