Natural Farming: Natural farming means chemical-free farming.
→Natural farming is also known as organic farming.
→Natural farming is considered as agro-ecology based diversified farming system.
→This method of farming integrates crops, trees and livestock with functional biodiversity.
→ Living creatures existed for millions of years before the arrival of humans on earth. Farming that is done by understanding and using the system of nature that sustains this existence is called natural farming.
→ Dr Subhash Palekar studied and researched nature. The method of farming he developed as a result of his studies has become famous as 'Subhash Palekar Natural Farming' (SPNF).
→ Intensive efforts are being made by the Central and State Governments to increase the prevalence of natural farming and ensure that maximum number of farmers benefit from it. Gujarat state government has declared Dang district as the first 100% natural farming district in the state.
→To boost education, research and extension activities in natural farming, the Government has established the 'Natural Farming and Organic Agricultural University'.
→ In addition to this, the Government has also constituted the 'Gujarat Natural Farming Development Board' to increase the prevalence of natural farming methods and to encourage the farmers through continuous guidance of this method.
