Plasma : It is a light yellow coloured liquid which is made up of blood proteins, such as albumin, globulin and fibrinogen. Functions of Plasma : (i) It delivers the products of digestion from the small intestine to various tissues. (ii) Maintains the acid-base balance of the blood. (iii) Maintains fluids in the blood. (iv) It provides essential factors (fibrinogen) for blood coagulation. (v) Provides immunisation of the body through antibodies (immunoglobinos). These antibodies are made by a type of WBC and later they are released into plasma. (vi) It helps Transport of hormones from endocrine glands to their target organs. (vii) Transport the waste products in the tissues to the excretory organs. (viii) Maintain normal temperature by distributing heat throughout the body.
