Question
Who was Samin? Why did he protest against the Dutch?

Answer

Surontiko Samin was a resident of Randublatung village in Java. He was the leader of the revolt movement organised against the colonialists.
He protested against the Dutch because they has imposed forest laws and had taken ownership of the forests and restricted movement of local villagers to the forest. He argued that the state had no right to own natural resources which are meant for all.
