Equatorial forests are not commercially important because of the following reasons :
  1. Equatorial forests are dense and have a large number of varieties of trees in mixed stands. Pure strands of trees are not found as in the coniferous forests.
  2. Valuable species are found scattered over a large area.
  3. The ground is damp and slushy and the construction of roads, the railway line is difficult.
  4. The climate is also oppressive due to high temperatures, high humidity, and heavy rainfall.
