While studying at the University of Zurich Einstein found a fellow Serb student named Mileva Maric 'a clever creature'.
She had come to the University at Zurich as it was one of the few in Europe where women could get degrees.
Einstein saw an ally in her against the people in his family and at the university with whom he was constantly at odds.
They fell in love and shared their love for science too.
Einstein's mother was against him marrying Mileva Maric because she was too old and too intelligent for him.
Also she felt she was a book like her son so Einstein put off marrying Mileva for some time but in $1903$ he married her and they had two sons.
After a few years post her marriage Mileva lost her intellectual ambition and became an unhappy housewife so the couple were constantly fighting and finally took a divorce in $1919.$
