  • India has diversity of language, religion and culture and, as a consequence, there are many linguistic and religious minorities.- With a view to protect the interests of these minorities Cultural and Educational Rights find a place in the Fundamental Rights.
  • Minorities have been given the right to preserve their culture, customs, traditions, script language and religion.
  • They have been given the right to establish‘minority’ educational institutions to preserve and develop their language, script and religion.
  • The state / government makes no discrimination in giving grants financial assistance to these institutions.
  • However, in the larger public interest, the state government can acquire their properties with paying adequate compensation.
  • The diverse and rich heritage of the country is preserved by the Cultural and Educational Rights. This helps in promoting national integration.
