  • The practice of untouchability has been abolished and to practise untouchability is declared as a cognisable offence.
  • The titles indicating privileged status and discrimination have been abolished.
  • The state/government has been given powers to make special provisions for the weaker sections, the women and children that includes reservation of seats in public employment and the institutions of higher education.
