Functions of Thymosins:
1. The immune system of newborn babies is not highly developed. Primarily, infants depend on antibodies received from their mothers for immunity. After the formation of the thymus gland, it stimulates the production of lymphocytes. These lymphocytes migrate to the spleen, Peyer's patches, and lymph nodes.
2. Thymosin motivates lymphocytes to destroy bacteria or foreign antigens.
3. Thymosin accelerates the rate of growth.
4. Thymosin assists in the maturation of reproductive organs. This gland is referred to as the training centre for lymphocytes.
