The classification of minerals is as follows:
1. Metallic minerals:

Heat and electrically conductive minerals are called metallic or metallic minerals.
Such as iron ore, copper, gold, lead, zinc, tin, nickel, mercury, platinum etc.

Question 23 Marks
Write a short note on Oceanic mineral resources.

Answer
The biological and inorganic resources associated with ocean water and its bottoms are called marine resources. The classification of marine resources is as follows:
1. Marine Biological Resources:

Plankton, diatoms, seaweed, seaweed, different types of fish, corals and different types of oysters, shells etc.
2. Marine Mineral Resources:

Minerals dissolved in seawater include salt, bromine, magnesium, zinc, uranium, thorium, etc. Minerals such as magnetite, monazite, sulfur, diamonds, etc. are found in sedimentary deposits.
3. Energy Resources:

(i) Conventional energy sources:

There are many areas where oil and natural gas can be found from the bottom of the ocean.
In the Arabian Sea, mineral oil is obtained by drilling at the bottom of the sea at Bombay High near Mumbai in India.
(ii) Unconventional energy sources:

Question 33 Marks
Mention the types of resources distribution point of view.

Answer
The types of resources in terms of distribution are as follows:
Ubiquitous resource, general accessible resource, potential resource, unknown resource etc.
The gases in the atmosphere like nitrogen, oxygen etc. are the most accessible resources.
Land, water, pastures, etc. are generally accessible resources.
Resources that are likely to be used in the near future are potential resources.
For example, in the hilly regions of the states of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, etc. in North India, there are many conveniences for hydropower.
Such substances are unknown resources unless one knows the properties of the substance and its use.
For example, the inhabitants of the Amazon River Delta knew rubber trees.
But did not know its use.
So rubber at the time called an unknown resource.
