What are the differences seen in the distribution of household work ?
Answer
There is a belief in society that girls are less physically fit than boys.
  • So, compared to boys, the girls have to do more household work than boys. As such, the girls help with cooking at home. They look after their younger brother or sister. They clean the house; fill water in the vessels and wash clothes.
  • Boys can learn to ride a bicycle or other vehicle for household work; while girls are not considered capable of for this.

$(1)$ In Indian society, the discrimination is seen between son and daughter in dressing, playing sports, driving vehicles, food, outing, behaviour and thinking, getting higher education, etc.
$(2)$ In some parts of the country, even primary education is not provided to daughters.
$​​​​​​​(3)$ The rate of teaching girls in higher courses is very low.
$(4)$ Parents do not choose to send their daughter to study or work in a city outside their village or area.
$​​​​​​​(5)$ Even today there many logical arguments prevailing in some societies about educating girls.
