Kangra, Kullu, Garhwal. Chamba and Mandi were its main centres. Molaram was a great painter of Kangra genre.The main theme of Kangra style is Lord Krishna and devotion towards Krishna in addition to the beauty of the Himalayas.

The Rajput style was famous in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh from the 10th to the 16th century under the patronage of Rajput kings. It includes miniatures and murals. Since Rajput kings patronized the traditional painters, in the paintings of these painters, the lives of the Rajput kings, their customs, attire, festivals etc. subjects have been at the centre. Radha Krishna, Krishnabhakti. Ras Leela and the folk life of Rajasthan have also been at the centre of the Rajput style of painting. This style is also known as the Rajasthan style as it has developed in Bundi, Kishangarh, Bikaner and Jodhpur in Rajasthan.
