If air containing $0.5\%$ carbon monoxide by volume is inhaled, death can result This is because carbon monoxide combines with the haemogloblin present in the blood cells of our body to form a stable compound called carboxyl-haemoglobin. This does not allow to absorb oxygen. Thus depriving our body cells of oxygen. This cause obsruction in respiration and causes death.
