Solve the Following Question.(2 Marks)

Question 512 Marks
Find the general solutions of the following equations :

$\cos \theta=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}$

Answer
The general solution of $\cos \theta=\cos \alpha$ is

$\theta=2 n \pi \pm \alpha, n \in Z$

Now, $\cos \theta=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}=\cos \frac{\pi}{6} \ldots\left[\because \cos \frac{\pi}{6}=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\right]$

∴ the required general solution is

$\theta=2 n \pi \pm \frac{\pi}{6}, n \in Z$

Question 522 Marks
Find the general solutions of the following equations :

$\sin \theta=\frac{1}{2}$

Answer
The general solution of $\sin \theta=\sin \alpha$ is

$\theta=n \pi+(-1)^n \propto, n \in Z$

Now, $\sin \theta=\frac{1}{2}=\sin \frac{\pi}{6} \ldots\left[\because \sin \frac{\pi}{6}=\frac{1}{2}\right]$

∴ the required general solution is

$\theta=n \pi+(-1)^n \frac{\pi}{6}, n \in Z$.
