India has diversity of language, religion and culture and, as a consequence, there are many linguistic and religious minorities. With a view to protect the interests of these minorities, Cultural and Educational Rights find a place in the Fundamental Rights.
→ Minorities have been given the right to preserve their culture, customs. traditions, script. language and religion.
→ They have been given the right to establish 'minority' educational institutions to preserve and develop their language, script and religion.
→ The state/government makes no discrimination in giving grants/financial assistance to these institutions.
→ However, in the larger public interest, the state/government can acquire their properties with paying adequate compensation.
→ The diverse and rich heritage of the country is preserved by the Cultural and Educational Rights. This helps in promoting national integration.
