Explain the internal determinants of attention with example.

The following are the internal determinants of attention.
(1) Interest: Interest is called the mother of attention. A person always pays more attention to things in which he is interested. For example: A person fond of flying kite always gets attracted towards kite. Mcdougall calls liking or interest as "Covert attention."
(2) Need: Need is an important factor that decides the action or behaviour of an individual. For example
Even while looking at beautiful pictures, a hungry man will search for edible things.
(3) Habit: Addiction or habit also creates attention. For example: a person addicted to smoking gets attracted to a cigarette shop even at unknown place.
(4) Learning: Learning is also important to draw attention. The type of learning is responsible to draw attention towards the concerned object. For example - a doctor's attention is towards diseases and medicines
(5) Physical and mental health: The physical and mental condition of a person control's his attention from inside. For example - an injured person's attention frequently goes towards his injured limb. Mental tension and worries also have negative effect upon our attention.
