Gifted children have extraordinary mental capacity. The major characteristics of gifted children are as follow :
(1) Such children possess high level of concentration and sharp memory. They develope extra ordinary skills in language. They react quickly towards any sensation and they tend to have inclination towards innovation.
(2) They possess high level of thinking and problem- solving and decision-making abilities.
(3) Apart from general skills, they are gifted with insight
(4) Generally, they do not agree with the majority and do not accept the contemporary trends prevailing in society. They have their own thinking pattern and they act and behave accordingly.
(5) They can evaluate their own work by reasoning.
(6) Being introvert, they prefer solitude.
(7) They have to tolerate more social and emotional problems than ordinary children.
(8) They do not need external reinforcement for their work.
(9) They are intrinsically motivated and they get pleasure from their work.
(10) Due to high level of intelligence they possess quality of high self-esteem.
(11) They may be efficient in some work but may be weak in some other work.
