Question
For solving pair of equation, in this exercise use the method of elimination by equating coefficients :$\frac{1}{5}(x-2)=\frac{1}{4}(1-y); 26 x+3 y+4=0$

Answer

$ \frac{1}{5}(x-2)=\frac{1}{4}(1-y)$
$ \Rightarrow 4(x-2)=5(1-y)$
$ \Rightarrow 4 x-8=5-5 y$
$\Rightarrow 4 x+5 y=13\dots.....(1)$
$26 x+3 y=-4\dots.....(2)$
Multiplying equation no. $(1)$ by $3$ and $(2)$ by $5 .$
$12 x+15 y=39\dots.....(3)$
$130 x+15 y=-20\dots.....(4)$
Subtracting equation $(4)$ from $(3)$
$12 x+15 y =39$
$-130 x+15 y =-20$
$- +$
$-118 x =59$
$x =-\frac{59}{118}$
$x =-\frac{1}{2}$
From $(1)$
$4\left(-\frac{1}{2}\right)+5 y=13$
$ 5 y=13+2$
$ y=3$
