If each side of a cube is doubled, then its volume:

Let the original side be $'x\ ' \ cm$
$\therefore$ Original volume $= x^3 \ cm^3$
Now,
New side $= 2x \ cm$
$\therefore$ New volume $= (2x)^3$
$= 8x^3 \ cm^3$
So, the volume becomes $8$ times.
